Click on a device to test it individually. Command-click to select additional devices. To see a popup menu of alternative names for a device, click and hold the mouse. Devices with more than one name have the >> symbol in the type column.
Traces
Each dot in the trace indicates that a reply was correctly received before the timeout. A black mark indicates a dropped packet.
This area displays information about percent drops, round-trip times (in msec), and the current timeout. To reset the percent dropped to 0%, click on "percent dropped". To reset the min and max round-trip times, click on "min", "max" or "avg".
Click on a column heading to sort the device list. The underlined heading indicates the current sort order.
This icon denotes that MacPing is testing the network. When testing is paused, MacPing ceases to send probe packets.
This denotes that MacPing will not beep when drops occur. Click here to toggle the "Beep When Drops Occur" setting.
This shows the number of devices in the window. To see the number of selected devices, click the mouse or hold down the Shift, Command or Caps Lock key.
Probe popup
Use the probe popup menu to select a packet type for testing. For AppleTalk networks, choose between short and long echoes, name-binding lookups, printer status or RTS-CTS (LocalTalk only). For IP, choose between ICMP echoes and SNMP.
Zone popup
Use the zone popup menu to select an AppleTalk zone to test.
Network popup
Use the network popup menu to change networks within a zone, test another AppleTalk network, or test an IP subnet.
Scroll bar
Use the scroll bar to see devices that are out of view.
Drag this vertical bar to resize the columns in the device list.
